Thanks "fur" joining us. Watch for great tips, jokes, quotes and the latest dogs and cats news. We think you will give us "two paws" up! My Pet Project Supplies & Accessories is all about the furry friends we love. We are Catherine and Liz, the partners of My Pet Project, but we think you will be more interested in meeting our vice-presidents, Koivu and D'Artangnan. Koivu is Catherine's 16 year old Maine Coon, and D'Artangnan is Liz' five year old Schnauzer. They are the reason we got into this business. Mind you, they don't work all that hard, however, both Koivu and D'Artangnan have promised to contribute, from time to time, to our blog. Check out our blog here, and join us on twitter (@projectpet) and Facebook (My Pet Project Supplies)!

High Tech going to the dogs

Bill Clinton once said that 20 years ago no one, but the most scientifically advanced, knew about the internet... and now (as he put it): "...even my dog has a blog", so it's no surprise that the high tech industry is looking to expand computer usage to our canine friends.

According to a recent article in the Toronto Star, Snaptracs Inc., a division of Qualcomm,  is launching a product called Tagg which will allow you to use GPS and cell phone technology to track your lost pet.  No deal has been worked out with a Canadian phone carrier to allow the system to operate north of the border, but it surely won't be long before before dog owners on both side of the boarder have the peace of mind that comes with the potential of this product.

Meanwhile, according to the same article, another US company, GIBI Technologies wants to create a mobile social networking site for pets, allowing owners to connect over favorite spots, activities, and products.

How about if you want to know whether your dog walker has done his job today?  Well, yet another American company believes they have the answer; Pet Check Technology has devised a system to keep tabs on walkers by having them scan a bar code on their cell phones at the start and end of their walk.

Over here at My Pet Project Supplies & Accessories, we find this all to be quite interesting...just as long as our dogs don't end up with more friends on Facebook than we do!
